5 reasons couples don’t do systems

By Edward Plant

During the 10 years that I’ve been supporting couples in business to earn more and work less, systems have been a critical component when it comes to building a business that flows and grows with ease.

Understanding that you need systems is one part and implementing them is another. And there are 5 big mistakes that I see couples make which stops them from enjoying the big benefits that systems bring to your business.

So what are those mistakes? Great question!

In this short video I explain the 5 things that stop you from implementing systems. You can watch that now or keep reading below.

The 5 Things That Stop You from Implementing Systems

  1. The systems for running your business are all contained inside your head. The problem with having systems in your head is that no one else can access that information easily, and when you are removed from the business to say, to go on holidays, get sick or your family needs you, that information goes with you.
  2. You don’t know how to get those systems out of your head, documents them and set them up so that others can follow them.
  3. The mere mention of systems makes you want to run and hide in the nearest cupboard with a bottle of whiskey. Systems make your eyes glaze over and sounds like more effort than you’re willing to put in.
  4. You believe that you don’t have time to set up and implement systems. You probably don’t know where to start and feel so crazy busy that it’s more than you can cope with.
  5. Deep down you don’t trust other people to do certain things in your business so you hold onto it all. This may not be an obvious reason but so often when we dig down there is doubt that someone else can do the job to your standard which keeps you doing it yourself. Until you can let go of the reins, you won’t empower others to do those jobs and do them to the standard that you set.

These mistakes mean you stay stuck doing it all on your business (no time) and results remain unreliable and slow (no money) which leaves you and your partner feeling exhausted, stressed out and frustrated (overwhelmed and over it).

If you are making one or more of these mistakes and would like some help, we’re running a free online training this month to show you how to create and implement systems in your business.

The Process of Processes: Create systems to save time and money in your business, and set it up for growth is on Thursday, July 19 at 12.30pm. You can register here.
