What would your business look like if you stopped making decisions based on what a market demands, or a number in a bank balance, and instead, made your biggest decision criteria: “What is best next move for our family?”
Would that make you go faster, slower, or just enjoy the process more?
That’s always been the driver for today’s smart, funny and about-to-be global operators, Kate Sutton and Adam Simpson (otherwise known as Mr. and Mrs. UberKate!).
When jewelry company UberKate launched off the back of a few bottles of wine in a suburban house in Sydney in 2003, no one had any idea that it would evolve to redefine an industry, inspire other couples from around the world and provide such friendly remuneration for their efforts.
That 15-year journey has seen them advised by lawyers to take on one of the globe’s biggest transport companies, follow a strategy that had them pausing on expansion until it was right, and an understanding that joy, love, and presence have been the true keys to making it.
These two were SO fun to chat with and through the laughs, also managed to hit home some very tangible tactics.
I was personally moved by Kate and Adam’s stories which remind me that there is light at the end of the tunnel even on the days when everything feels just too much. And in those hard days when my small children are begging at my feet and the world is also after me, there is nothing more important than that moment.
