Creating true capacity

By Rebecca Plant

Rebecca and Edward Plant, Institute for Couples in Business

Today, Ed and I are talking about one of the biggest stumbling blocks for any business person: Capacity. By that, I mean, the ACTUAL amount of time you have to do something with.

This is a topic very close to my heart and one I have worked closely with women on through my female leadership course EmpowHERment and in one-to-one situations for the past 3 years.

But, after working alongside my husband and seeing hundreds of business people through the PowerHouse and The Business League over the years, it is a problem men can suffer deeply from too.  And so, when it comes to a couple’s capacity – throwing kids and the relationship time into the mix as well – things can get exacerbated and a little more complex.

The challenges we will discuss today were triggered by my conversation with Mr. and Mrs. UberKate: Kate Sutton and Adam Simpson who explained how their businesses have grown around what is best for their family. And more so, how they created their own roles and direction based on what they were actually willing to give to the business. You can catch that episode here: https://www.instituteforcouplesinbusiness.com/podcast-kate-sutton-adam-simpson/

In this episode Ed and I discuss:

  • The 2 defining criteria of True Capacity.
  • How to know if you are operating outside of it.
  • Symptoms you will see, feel, suffer if you don’t get real with your time.
  • My 3-step formula for getting your output to match the reality of your time capabilities.
  • Ed’s #1 secret for growing the capacity of your business.
