Communicate to create harmony

By Rebecca Plant

Rebecca and Edward Plant

Hello there and welcome back to the Boardrooms and Bedrooms podcast.

It’s Rebecca here and I’m excited to have you joining us for today’s episode.

Our conversation today is with Amy and Jamie Honey – who live in Vegas and love a good Dare. To me, sounds like THE perfect blend of my 20-year-old self …  But in reality, is absolutely nothing like the work they do, which is about creating a life full of alignment.

Her styles is chaotic, with a motto of Ready, Fire, Aim.

His approach is detailed and well-thought out.

But somehow, this blended Aussie-American couple have created a life for themselves that has them working together harmoniously, supporting others to set goals and see them through.

They spend a lot of time apart travelling for work, but say that knowing each other’s strengths and ways of BEING helps them to stay connected and intimate even when they don’t speak for days.  In their 12 years together, they say that honesty, communication and self awareness has been the cornerstone of keeping their love alive – and also everything they teach to others.

They seem to operate at a pretty faced pace – and to come from incredibly opposite ways of being – but it all seems to work. Maybe you can relate to that? I know we can.

In today’s episode, we talk about:

  • What stops your actions aligning with what you say you want
  • Why Assumptions are the mother of all stuff-ups for relationships
  • How being clear on what they are good at has been the secret to Amy and Jamie’s profit
  • Why working from the recliner might be annoying for you, but if the results equal productivity and happiness to your partner, it must be respected and honoured
  • Why ‘Letting Go’ is the biggest lesson of Jamie’s business career
  • How they stay connected, even when they don’t speak for days or are in different time zones.
