How to Have a Fight

By Rebecca Plant

Wish you were skilled up at school on how to actually have a fight that didn't leave you still frustrated, your partner hurt or slamming doors?

In today's blog post, we share with you the framework we and our clients inside PowerHouse use to diffuse fights, or what we like to call, have more successful fights.

Because seriously, who likes arguing? Fighting Sucks.  And it really can make love taste like lemons. And fighting doesn’t have to mean yelling at each other. It doesn’t have to mean full on barneys and blow-ups. It can present itself in a disagreement, or one person feeling angry, or - my least favourite - no communication at all and a head buried in the sand.

Which one are you?

Personally, I’m a yeller if I get angry and so is Ed.  It’s the reason we decided to create this framework in the first place.  We didn’t want to be yelling in front of our kids all the time. We didn’t want our anger to spill over to our bedroom.  We didn’t want it to get stuck and come and bite us at another time when we were dealing with a completely separate issue.

Despite recent research that suggests couples who fight live longer, fights, if not fully resolved, can create massive tension and dis-ease in both your relationship, business and your body.

And given that the first barrier to Balanced Growth is Too Much Tension, we seriously do NOT need anymore tense-ness.

In this video, we talk through the 3 steps you need to install in to your Fight to ensure it is a success:

1. Raise the Flag

2. Install the Conversation Framework

3. Work to Resolution.

So, grab a pen and paper and listen in as we explain exactly HOW TO HAVE A (successful) FIGHT.  Or, the Framework for Fighting.

Fighting Fair is a skill. I know this video will help.

Take care,

Rebecca "Fair Fighter" Plant
