Save your marriage and boost business using the power of presence

By Rebecca Plant

 Dr Dan Hanson

Dr Dan Hanson is an internationally recognised expert in dentistry. He specialises in early interceptive treatment of soft tissue dysfunction, breathing dysfunction and malocclusion. Put more simply, he’s passionate about helping children to sleep, breathe, eat and grow well!

So why am I talking to a dentist on a podcast aimed at supporting couples in business?

A book that Dan was drawn to back in 2012 led him to discover a men’s group that ignited his passion for self-actualisation. Encouraged by his wife Rachel, they now run retreats for other couples to master the art of presence. Again, put simply: how to stop fighting with yourself and others.

In this episode we chat about:

  • Dan’s life-changing work with children;
  • What is ‘Men’s Work’;
  • The tribal origins of men’s support networks;
  • How Dan discovered the concept of Men’s Groups;
  • The childhood patterns that led to his mistrust of men;
  • Why Dan set up his own Men’s Group;
  • How a Men’s Group programs saved his marriage;
  • The signs that his marriage was in crisis;
  • Presence and awareness vs reaction and response;
  • “Little boy” and “little girl” behaviours;
  • How to suggest a support network to someone;
  • How Rachel led the way in starting their business;
  • Dan and Rachel’s roles and rules;
  • The value of setting and respecting boundaries;
  • The no-go zones before going to bed.
  • Dr Dan’s ‘one word’ for couples in business.
